Organize, Secure, and Cool Every Rack Unit
Rack cabinets are the structural backbone of every server room, network closet, and AV installation, and loose equipment stacked on a shelf with tangled cabling is a cooling failure and security liability waiting to happen. Proper enclosed cabinets, open-frame racks, and wall-mount enclosures organize hardware into standard 19-inch rails, optimize front-to-back airflow, and provide keyed physical security for compliance-sensitive environments. The catalog covers 4U wall-mount boxes to 48U floor-standing cabinets from Eaton (Tripp Lite), StarTech, CyberPower, and Schneider Electric (APC) with matching shelves, blanking panels, and cable management accessories.
Rack Cabinets for Every Environment
- Enterprise data centers — 42U and 48U enclosed cabinets in hot-aisle and cold-aisle configurations maximize cooling efficiency for high-density server deployments
- Network closets and telecom rooms — 12U to 24U enclosed or wall-mount cabinets house switches, patch panels, and firewalls with locking doors for shared-access areas
- Branch offices and retail locations — wall-mount enclosures conserve floor space by mounting network gear overhead in stockrooms and utility closets
- AV integrations and broadcast production — rolling rack cabinets with locking casters serve live events, control rooms, and mobile production trucks
- Home labs and small businesses — open-frame racks fit a switch, patch panel, NAS, and UPS in a single organized footprint inside a closet or utility room
- Industrial and edge deployments — ruggedized and NEMA-rated enclosures protect gear in warehouses, manufacturing floors, and outdoor locations
How to Choose the Right Rack Cabinet
Height measured in rack units is the first decision. One rack unit (1U) equals 1.75 inches of vertical mounting space. Inventory your current gear and add 25 to 30 percent headroom for future growth. A typical small-office network stack of a switch, patch panel, firewall, and UPS fits in 12U, while a growing server room with multiple hosts, storage arrays, and redundant networking needs 42U or 48U. Eaton SmartRack series covers the full range from compact wall-mount units through full-depth floor-standing cabinets rated to hold over 2,000 pounds of equipment.
Depth determines what physically fits inside. Shallow racks of 20 to 24 inches accommodate network switches, patch panels, and AV gear. Full-depth racks of 36 to 42 inches are required for rack-mount servers from HPE and similar enterprise platforms. Always confirm internal usable depth against the deepest piece of equipment you plan to install, including rear cable clearance.
Airflow and physical security round out the specification. Perforated front and rear doors allow passive cooling for moderate loads, while top-mounted fan trays add active exhaust for dense deployments. Locking doors and side panels satisfy PCI-DSS and HIPAA physical-security requirements in shared facilities. Schneider Electric NetShelter and CyberPower Carbon series both offer tool-less side panel removal for faster maintenance access.
