Electric Strikes, Door Cords, RTE Plates, and Structured Wiring Components
Hardware failures at the installation site stall entire crews, and a missing door strike or backordered request-to-exit plate can delay a project by days while the right part ships from across the country. Purpose-built installation hardware from Seco-Larm and ICC covers electric door strikes, armored door cords, electromagnetic door holders, RTE plates, and structured wiring blanks. Every component here is engineered for security, access control, and low-voltage cabling infrastructure projects.
Hardware for Every Installation
- Commercial access control projects — electric door strikes paired with card readers, keypads, or intercom stations to manage building entry at every door
- Multi-tenant residential buildings — armored door cords and request-to-exit plates that meet fire code requirements for apartment and condominium entry systems
- Fire-rated door compliance — electromagnetic door holders that release automatically on fire alarm signals, keeping exit routes clear during emergencies
- Structured wiring closets — blank module connectors, keystone inserts, and filler panels that maintain clean, dust-free rack and wall plate terminations
- Retrofit and upgrade projects — drop-in replacement strikes and cords compatible with existing door frames and access control panels, reducing rework and labor time
- Locksmith service vehicles — compact, van-stocked components that cover the most common electric strike and door cord replacements on the spot during service calls
How to Choose the Right Installation Hardware
Start with the door and frame type. Electric door strikes come in fail-safe (unlocked on power loss) and fail-secure (locked on power loss) configurations. Fail-safe strikes are required on fire-rated egress doors so occupants can exit during a power outage, while fail-secure models are standard for server rooms, storage areas, and interior doors where maintaining the lock during outages is the priority. Seco-Larm offers both configurations in standard and narrow-frame profiles, and most models accept 12 VDC or 24 VDC input. When specifying a strike, confirm the jaw width matches the latch bolt throw on the existing lockset, and verify that the strike's holding force rating meets the security requirements for the opening.
Armored door cords bridge the gap between the door frame and the door itself, protecting low-voltage conductors from constant flexing and potential vandalism at the hinge point. Choose a cord with enough conductors to carry power and data for every device on the door. A four-conductor cord handles a basic strike installation, while eight-conductor versions support full access control setups with separate reader and sensor wiring. Stainless steel sheathing is the industry standard for commercial installations, resisting cutting attempts and withstanding decades of daily door cycles without conductor fatigue.
Electromagnetic door holders deserve careful sizing for fire-rated corridors and lobbies. Wall-mounted models work in most corridors, while floor-mounted versions suit wide double doors and vestibules where a wall bracket would obstruct traffic. Holding force ratings range from 25 to 90 pounds, so match the holder to the door weight and closer spring tension. All Seco-Larm holders include a manual release button for testing during commissioning and annual fire inspections.
For structured wiring projects, ICC blank module connectors snap into standard keystone openings in wall plates and patch panels. Filling unused ports prevents dust buildup, reduces signal interference from open cavities, and gives every installation a finished, professional appearance. Request-to-exit plates round out every electronically locked door, providing code-compliant egress from the secure side. Seco-Larm RTE plates feature illuminated pushbuttons, built-in timer relays, and a standard single-gang footprint that mounts on any commercial switch box.
