Is WiFi 6 still worth buying in 2026?
Yes. WiFi 6 access points deliver excellent performance for most business deployments and are significantly more affordable than WiFi 7. The vast majority of client devices in use today support WiFi 6, making it the practical choice for most environments. WiFi 6 APs will remain effective for years to come.
Will my older devices work with a WiFi 6 access point?
Yes. WiFi 6 access points are fully backward-compatible with WiFi 5, WiFi 4, and older devices. Older clients will connect at their maximum supported speed, while WiFi 6 clients benefit from the improved performance. You do not need to replace any existing devices when upgrading your access points.
What is the difference between WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E?
WiFi 6 operates on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. WiFi 6E adds the 6 GHz band, which provides more non-overlapping channels and less interference. WiFi 6E is ideal for high-density environments where the 5 GHz band is congested, but requires WiFi 6E-capable client devices to take advantage of the 6 GHz band.
