UniFi Switches: Centrally Managed Network Switching
UniFi Switches from Ubiquiti deliver enterprise-grade switching with zero licensing fees. Every switch is managed through the UniFi Controller (hosted on a Dream Machine, Cloud Key, or self-hosted server), giving you a single pane of glass for your entire network.
Best for: UniFi ecosystem users deploying managed PoE switches that integrate seamlessly with UniFi Controller for centralized monitoring and configuration.
How to Choose the Right UniFi Switch
What port count and speed do you need?
UniFi offers compact 5-port and 8-port desktop models for small deployments, 24-port and 48-port rack-mount models for offices and campuses, and high-performance models with 2.5 GbE, 10 GbE, and 25 GbE ports for aggregation and backbone use.
Do you need PoE?
Most UniFi switches are available in PoE variants that power access points, cameras, and phones. Check the PoE budget to ensure it covers all your powered devices. The Enterprise and Pro lines offer the highest PoE budgets.
Layer 2 or Layer 3?
Standard UniFi switches operate at Layer 2. The Enterprise and Pro Max series add Layer 3 capabilities including inter-VLAN routing and static routes, which reduce the load on your gateway.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do UniFi switches require a controller?
UniFi switches can pass traffic without a controller, but you need a UniFi Controller to configure VLANs, port profiles, and PoE settings. The controller runs on a Dream Machine, Cloud Key, or self-hosted server. There is no recurring fee.
Are UniFi switches managed or unmanaged?
All UniFi switches are managed through the UniFi Controller software. Even the compact Flex Mini models support VLANs and port profiles. There are no unmanaged UniFi switches.
What is the difference between UniFi Standard, Pro, and Enterprise switches?
Standard switches offer Layer 2 management with gigabit ports. Pro switches add higher PoE budgets and SFP+ uplinks. Enterprise switches provide Layer 3 routing, 2.5 GbE ports, and the highest PoE budgets for large-scale deployments.
