10 Gbps Switch-to-Switch Link Without a Fiber Run or Transceiver Pair
The Ubiquiti UACC-DAC-SFP10-1M is a 1-meter (3.3 ft) passive copper direct attach cable with SFP+ connectors on both ends. It plugs into the SFP+ ports on two UniFi switches and delivers a 10 Gbps link between them without the cost or complexity of separate fiber transceivers and a fiber patch cord. One cable, two connections, 10-Gigabit throughput.
DAC cables are the simplest way to build 10G links between devices mounted in the same rack or adjacent racks. No transceivers to buy, no fiber to terminate, no cleaning or polarity to worry about. The 1-meter length covers switch-to-switch, switch-to-firewall, and switch-to-NVR runs within a standard 42U rack with room for clean cable management.
Where the UACC-DAC-SFP10-1M Fits
- Switch-to-switch uplinks in the same rack where two UniFi switches need a 10G interconnect and the SFP+ ports are within 1 meter of each other
- Aggregation switch to gateway connections where the firewall or gateway sits directly above or below the aggregation switch in the rack
- Switch-to-NVR or switch-to-server links where a short 10G run replaces a pair of SFP+ transceivers and a fiber jumper
What the DAC Cable Delivers
- 10 Gbps passive copper: Full 10-Gigabit throughput with zero latency from signal conversion. Passive design draws no power and generates no heat.
- No transceivers needed: SFP+ connectors are built into the cable. Plug both ends directly into SFP+ slots. Eliminates the cost of buying two SFP+ modules per link.
- 1M (3.3 ft) length: Sized for same-rack and adjacent-rack runs. Long enough to route cleanly through cable management, short enough to avoid excess cable bulk.
- Hot-swappable: Insert or remove from SFP+ ports without powering down the switch.
Is SFP+ Faster Than RJ45?
SFP+ DAC cables deliver 10 Gbps over passive copper at near-zero latency, matching what a 10GBASE-T RJ45 connection provides in raw throughput. The difference is practical: SFP+ DAC cables cost less than 10G RJ45 copper modules, draw no power for PHY processing, and generate no heat. For short runs between switches in the same rack, SFP+ DAC is the faster-to-deploy and more efficient choice. RJ45 makes sense when you need to reach a device more than 5 meters away where DAC cables are not available.
