Ubiquiti Enterprise Campus 48 PoE - 10GbE Layer 3 Switch for Campus Aggregation

The Ubiquiti ECS-48-POE is a 48-port Layer 3 campus switch built to aggregate traffic from access layer switches and deliver 10GbE PoE to high-density deployments. With 32 ports of 10 GbE, 16 ports of 2.5 GbE, and 4 uplinks of 25G SFP28, every port can carry PoE+++ at up to 90W, backed by dual hot-swappable 1,200W power supplies.

Total PoE headroom runs from 750W up to 2,150W depending on AC input voltage and redundancy mode. That is enough budget to drive dozens of PoE++ access points, PTZ cameras, or access readers from a single 1U chassis without stitching together separate power injectors. Maximum switch power consumption is 2,400W including PoE, 250W without.

Performance matches the port count: 920 Gbps non-blocking switching capacity, 684 Mpps forwarding rate, 32,000 MAC addresses, and 256,000 IPv4 routes for full Layer 3 capability. It sits at the top of the UniFi switches lineup for campus and core roles, managed through UniFi Network alongside access points, gateways, and other UniFi hardware.

Who This Switch Is For

  • Enterprise and campus network architects building the aggregation or core layer of a multi-building deployment who need 10GbE PoE density plus 25G uplinks to a distribution switch or router
  • IT teams running high-density UniFi deployments with dozens of WiFi 6/6E/7 access points, PTZ cameras, or access control readers that need 60W to 90W of PoE per port
  • Government and NDAA-required facilities that need certified enterprise switching hardware with redundant power and Layer 3 routing in a 1U rack slot

Good to Know Before You Buy

  • Every port is PoE+++: All 48 data ports can deliver 90W of PoE to the connected device. That covers the full Ubiquiti WiFi 7 lineup, PTZ cameras, and any 802.3bt Type 4 powered device without restricting which ports you can use.
  • 10GbE on 32 ports: The 32 10 GbE ports auto-negotiate down to 5G, 2.5G, 1G, 100M, and 10M, so the switch handles modern WiFi 7 uplinks and legacy PoE cameras on the same chassis. The 16 additional 2.5 GbE ports keep traffic moving for standard WiFi 6 APs and midrange devices.
  • 25G SFP28 uplinks: Four 25 Gbps SFP28 ports connect to a spine switch, core router, or another campus switch. Configurable as LAG for aggregate 100 Gbps uplink, which is what makes this a real aggregation-layer switch rather than just a high-port-count access switch.
  • Dual hot-swappable 1,200W PSUs: Redundant power is included. If one PSU fails, the switch keeps running and the failed module can be swapped without downtime. Accepts 100-240V AC input.
  • Campus-scale Layer 3: 256,000 IPv4 routes and 32,000 MAC addresses mean this switch routes for a full campus, not just a single building. OSPF and other dynamic routing features are supported through UniFi Network.

Is the ECS-48-POE Worth It?

For organizations deploying UniFi at campus scale, the ECS-48-POE is the switch that makes aggregation and core roles possible without stepping outside the UniFi ecosystem. Compared to the USW-Enterprise-48-PoE, the ECS adds 25G SFP28 uplinks (vs 10G), dual hot-swap PSUs, and 920 Gbps of switching capacity with Layer 3 at scale. If the alternative is a Cisco Catalyst or Aruba CX at 2-3x the cost plus a licensing bill, the ECS-48-POE delivers the same aggregation-layer capability managed from the same console as the rest of your UniFi deployment.
