More Room to Breathe on a Crowded Wireless Network

When every laptop, phone, and IoT sensor competes for the same 2.4 and 5 GHz channels, video stutters and latency creeps up. The HPE Aruba AP-615 (R7J50A) opens the 6 GHz band on top of the traditional two, giving high-density indoor spaces far more capacity and clean, wide channels for multi-gigabit traffic. How It Works

The AP-615 uses a dual-radio, tri-band design: two 2x2 MIMO radios that can each be tuned to any of the 2.4, 5, or 6 GHz bands, so a deployment can flex its spectrum where it is needed most. Configured for concurrent 5 GHz and 6 GHz, it reaches a combined peak of up to 3.6 Gbps, with up to seven 160 MHz channels available in 6 GHz for low-latency, bandwidth-hungry apps. Wi-Fi 6 efficiency features carry across all three bands, including OFDMA and BSS coloring, with WPA3 encryption throughout.

Highlights

  • Wi-Fi 6E, tri-band: unlocks the 6 GHz band to more than double available wireless capacity over 2.4 and 5 GHz alone.
  • Up to 3.6 Gbps: combined peak data rate from two 2x2 MIMO radios in concurrent 5 GHz and 6 GHz operation.
  • 2.5 Gbps Smart Rate uplink: a multi-gig Ethernet port keeps the wired side from bottlenecking the faster air.
  • Runs on low-power 802.3af (Class 3) PoE, so it drops onto existing switch infrastructure without new wiring.
  • Built-in GPS and fine time measurement (802.11mc) let the AP locate itself for accurate indoor positioning, plus Bluetooth 5 for IoT.

Do all my devices need Wi-Fi 6E to connect?

No. The AP-615 still serves your existing Wi-Fi 6 and older clients on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands as usual. Only Wi-Fi 6E capable devices reach into the 6 GHz band, and with no legacy traffic allowed there, that spectrum stays clean and fast for the newest phones and laptops. As a low power indoor (LPI) class AP, it is designed for ceiling-mounted indoor coverage and needs no AFC service to operate.
