Compact Mullion-Mount Proximity Reader for Narrow Door Frames and Outdoor Access Points
The Rosslare AY-K12C is a micro mullion-format 125 kHz proximity card reader with Wiegand 26-bit output, built for installations where standard-size readers do not fit. At just 3.15 x 1.34 inches, the AY-K12C mounts directly on narrow aluminum door frames and mullion strips while maintaining full read performance up to 7 cm. IP65-rated and fully potted, it operates reliably in outdoor environments from -31 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit without additional weatherproofing.
The AY-K12C supports multiple 125 kHz card formats and connects to any access control panel that accepts Wiegand input. Running on 5 to 16 VDC at just 70 mA, it draws minimal power and works with the same wiring and credentials as larger Rosslare and HID-compatible readers in the same system, making it a drop-in solution for tight locations without changing out cards or controllers.
Where the AY-K12C Fits
- Narrow door frame installations where standard card readers are too wide for the available mullion space, and the micro form factor provides a clean mount without obstructing the door hardware
- Outdoor entry points and gate access where the IP65-rated, fully potted housing withstands rain, dust, and temperature extremes without degradation in read performance
- Multi-reader access control systems where certain doors require a smaller reader but the entire system runs on the same Wiegand 26-bit protocol and 125 kHz credentials
What the AY-K12C Delivers
- Micro mullion form factor: 3.15 x 1.34 x 0.63 inches fits door frames and narrow mounting surfaces where full-size readers cannot be installed. Surface-mount design with no recessing required.
- 125 kHz multi-format proximity: Reads EM, Rosslare, and other 125 kHz card and tag formats. Wiegand 26-bit output ensures compatibility with virtually any access control panel on the market.
- IP65 weatherproof construction: Fully potted polycarbonate and ABS housing seals the electronics against water ingress and dust. Operates from -31 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit for year-round outdoor deployment.
- Low-power, wide-voltage operation: Draws only 70 mA at 12 VDC and accepts 5 to 16 VDC input, allowing long cable runs from the access control panel without dedicated power supplies.
- LED and buzzer feedback: External LED and buzzer control lines allow the access control panel to provide visual and audible confirmation of card reads, denials, and system status at the door.
