Touchless IR Wave-to-Open Exit Sensor with Adjustable Detection Range, Manual Override, and IP65 Weatherproof Stainless Steel Housing
The Seco-Larm SD-9163-KSVQ is a no touch exit button that uses an infrared wave sensor to trigger door hardware without physical contact. A simple hand wave within the adjustable 2 to 7 inch detection range activates the SPDT relay output rated at 1.2A at 24VDC, releasing electric strikes, magnetic locks, or automatic door operators. The IP65-rated stainless steel slimline housing withstands outdoor exposure, and a built-in manual override pushbutton provides backup activation if the IR sensor is obstructed. The SD-9163-KSVQ fits access control installations where touchless egress supports hygiene protocols, ADA accessibility, or hands-free convenience at controlled doors.
The wave sensor operates on 12 to 24 VDC and draws a maximum of 28mA when triggered, with a 12 to 15mA standby draw. The relay trigger duration is adjustable from 0.5 to 30 seconds or toggle mode, matching the timing requirements of different door hardware. A selectable LED indicator changes from red to green or green to red on activation, providing visual confirmation that the sensor detected the wave and fired the relay. The 1-1/2 in. x 4-1/2 in. slimline faceplate fits narrow door frames, mullion mounts, and post-mount applications.
Where the SD-9163-KSVQ Fits
- Hospitals, clinics, and clean rooms where touchless activation prevents cross-contamination at controlled doors, and staff carrying equipment or wearing gloves can wave to exit without touching a button surface
- Outdoor gates and parking structures where the IP65 weatherproof housing handles rain, humidity, and temperature swings, and the adjustable IR range prevents false triggers from passing traffic or debris
- ADA-compliant commercial exits where hands-free activation provides accessible egress for individuals with limited mobility or dexterity, and the manual override button serves as a backup activation method
What the SD-9163-KSVQ Delivers
- Adjustable IR detection range from 2 to 7 inches: The infrared wave sensor tunes to the installation environment. Short range prevents false triggers in high-traffic areas, while extended range provides activation distance for hands-free convenience.
- SPDT relay output at 1.2A with adjustable timing: The dry contact relay drives electric strikes, magnetic locks, and door operators directly. Trigger duration adjusts from 0.5 to 30 seconds or toggle mode to match the door hardware requirements.
- IP65 weatherproof stainless steel construction: The slimline 1-1/2 in. x 4-1/2 in. stainless steel faceplate and sealed sensor housing resist water, dust, and corrosion in outdoor and semi-outdoor installations.
- Built-in manual override pushbutton: A physical pushbutton behind the faceplate provides backup activation if the IR sensor is blocked or disabled. The override ensures egress is always available regardless of sensor status.
- Selectable LED color feedback: The LED indicator changes color on activation with a configurable red-to-green or green-to-red sequence. Visual feedback confirms the sensor detected the hand wave and triggered the relay output.
