Gen 7 Next-Generation Firewall with 16x GbE Ports, 3x 10G SFP+ Interfaces, 2 Gbps Threat Throughput, and 1RU Rackmount Form Factor for Mid-Size Networks

The SonicWall NSA 2700 is a Gen 7 next-generation firewall built for medium to large enterprise networks that need multi-gigabit threat inspection without sacrificing throughput. The appliance delivers 2 Gbps of threat and malware analysis throughput across 16 GbE copper ports and 3 SFP+ 10 GbE interfaces, with SonicOS 7.0 providing deep packet inspection for all traffic including TLS 1.3 encrypted sessions. The 1RU rackmount form factor with dual power supply support and high availability clustering fits into existing network infrastructure alongside core switches and distribution equipment.

The NSA 2700 ships as a hardware-only appliance, ready to pair with SonicWall security subscriptions (Essential, Threat, or Advanced Protection) based on the threat prevention features each deployment requires. The Gen 7 platform supports Capture Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) cloud-based sandboxing, Real-Time Deep Memory Inspection (RTDMI), and Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) for comprehensive protection against zero-day threats, ransomware, and encrypted attacks. Integrated SD-WAN capability eliminates the need for a separate SD-WAN appliance at each site.

Where the NSA 2700 Fits

  • Enterprise internet edge and campus perimeter deployments where the 2 Gbps threat throughput handles full deep packet inspection on high-bandwidth uplinks, the 16 GbE copper ports connect directly to distribution switches and DMZ segments, and the 3 SFP+ 10G interfaces provide fiber connectivity to the core network and redundant ISP handoffs
  • Multi-site headquarters and regional offices where SD-WAN capability routes traffic across multiple WAN links based on application priority and link quality, high availability clustering with automatic failover protects against hardware failure, and dual power supply support eliminates single-point-of-failure risk on the firewall protecting production traffic
  • Government and regulated environments where TAA compliance qualifies the NSA 2700 for federal procurement contracts, TLS 1.3 deep packet inspection meets visibility requirements for encrypted traffic analysis, and the SonicOS 7.0 single-pane-of-glass management interface simplifies compliance reporting and audit documentation across the security infrastructure

What the NSA 2700 Delivers

  • 2 Gbps Threat Prevention Throughput: Multi-gigabit threat and malware analysis throughput with deep packet inspection across all traffic, including TLS 1.3 encrypted sessions. SonicOS 7.0 with Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) and support for Capture ATP cloud sandboxing and Real-Time Deep Memory Inspection (RTDMI).
  • 16x GbE + 3x 10G SFP+ Port Density: 16 copper GbE ports for direct connections to switches, servers, and network segments. 3 SFP+ 10 GbE slots for fiber uplinks to core infrastructure and high-speed WAN handoffs. USB port for configuration and expandable storage up to 256 GB.
  • 1RU Rackmount with High Availability: 1U form factor (16.9 x 12.8 x 1.8 inches, 8.82 lb) for standard 19-inch server racks. Dual power supply support and high availability clustering with automatic failover. Layer 4-7 clustering for scalable throughput across multiple units.
  • Integrated SD-WAN and Advanced Security: Built-in SD-WAN eliminates the need for a separate appliance at each site. Intrusion prevention, application control, URL filtering, malware analysis, anti-spyware, botnet detection, and DDoS protection. Hardware-only unit pairs with Essential, Threat, or Advanced Protection subscriptions.
  • TAA Compliant, Gen 7 Platform: Trade Agreements Act compliant for government procurement. SonicOS 7.0 with modern single-pane-of-glass management, zero-touch deployment, and integrated switch and access point management from the firewall interface.

What Is the Difference Between NSA 2700 and NSA 2650

The NSA 2700 is SonicWall's Gen 7 replacement for the Gen 6 NSA 2650. The 2700 runs SonicOS 7.0 with a redesigned management interface and adds TLS 1.3 deep packet inspection, which the Gen 6 platform does not support. The hardware platform is also significantly upgraded: the NSA 2700 provides 3 SFP+ 10 GbE interfaces compared to none on the 2650, and delivers higher multi-gigabit threat throughput from the new processing architecture. The Gen 7 platform also adds native SD-WAN capability and support for Capture ATP with RTDMI, making it the current-generation choice for organizations deploying new or replacing end-of-support NSA 2650 hardware.
