24-Port PoE+ Managed Gigabit Switch with 250W Budget, Layer 3 Routing, and SFP Uplinks
The Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch ES-24-250W is a fully managed Layer 3 switch with 24 Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ ports and a 250W total PoE budget. It auto-senses IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at devices on every port, powering access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, and other PoE equipment from a single switch. Two SFP uplink ports connect to fiber backbones or aggregation switches, and the 26 Gbps non-blocking switching fabric processes traffic on all ports at line rate simultaneously.
The ES-24-250W is part of Ubiquiti's EdgeMAX product line, offering CLI-based management alongside a web interface for operators who need full control over VLANs, routing, ACLs, and QoS policies. Layer 3 routing support means the switch can route between VLANs internally without an external router, reducing hops and simplifying network architecture in multi-VLAN deployments.
Where the ES-24-250W Fits
- Office networks with PoE endpoints where a single switch powers VoIP phones, wireless access points, and surveillance cameras while providing Layer 3 inter-VLAN routing without a separate router
- Surveillance installations where the 250W PoE budget supports multiple IP cameras across 24 ports, and managed VLAN segmentation keeps camera traffic isolated from the production network
- Multi-site branch deployments where a 1U rack-mount switch handles all switching, PoE delivery, and inter-VLAN routing at each location, with SFP uplinks connecting to the core network over fiber
What the ES-24-250W Delivers
- 24 Gigabit PoE+ ports, 250W budget: Auto-sensing 802.3af/at on every port. 250 watts of total PoE power distributes across all 24 ports to power access points, cameras, phones, and any other PoE device without an external injector.
- Layer 3 routing and advanced management: Full Layer 2 switching features plus Layer 3 static and dynamic routing. VLANs, ACLs, QoS, IGMP snooping, spanning tree, and DHCP snooping through both CLI and web interface.
- 2x SFP uplink ports: Two dedicated SFP slots for Gigabit fiber uplinks to aggregation switches or cross-building connections. SFP ports are non-shared, providing dedicated uplink capacity separate from the 24 copper ports.
- 26 Gbps non-blocking throughput: The switching fabric processes all 24 GbE ports plus both SFP uplinks at full line rate simultaneously. No oversubscription, no packet loss under full load.
- 1U rack-mount form factor: Standard 19-inch rack width at 1U height. Mounts in any network rack or cabinet alongside other infrastructure equipment.
