Extend Ethernet Runs Without Reterminating with a Shielded Cat6a Coupler
The Ubiquiti UACC-RJ45-Coupler-C6A is a 10-pack of shielded RJ45 inline couplers rated for Cat6a performance. Each coupler joins two Ethernet cables end-to-end with female-to-female RJ45 connectors, extending a cable run without cutting, stripping, or reterminating. The shielded stainless steel housing maintains signal integrity and crosstalk protection through the joint.
When a cable run comes up short or an existing drop needs to reach a new location, an inline coupler is the fastest fix. Plug the existing cable into one side, a new patch cable into the other, and the run is extended. The Cat6a rating supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet over the combined length, so the coupler does not become the bottleneck in a 10G infrastructure.
Where the RJ45 Inline Coupler Fits
- Cable extensions in walls and ceilings where an existing run is too short to reach a new switch location or device, and pulling a replacement cable is not practical
- Temporary and semi-permanent connections at trade shows, event spaces, or construction sites where cables from different sources need to be joined quickly
- Patch panel and rack consolidation where shorter cables are joined to reach new equipment positions without re-pulling structured cabling
What the Coupler Delivers
- Shielded Cat6a rated: Stainless steel housing with full shielding maintains 10G-capable signal integrity through the joint. No performance downgrade from the coupler itself.
- Female-to-female RJ45: Standard RJ45 female connectors on both ends. Works with any Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat6a patch cable with male RJ45 plugs.
- Tool-free installation: Snap in both cables. No punch-down tool, crimp tool, or retermination required.
- 10-pack: Enough couplers for a full rack of extensions or to keep spares on hand for future needs.
Do Ethernet Couplers Slow Down Speed?
A properly rated coupler does not reduce Ethernet speed. The UACC-RJ45-Coupler-C6A is shielded and Cat6a certified, which means it maintains the electrical characteristics needed for 10 Gigabit signaling across the joint. Speed loss from couplers typically comes from using unshielded or under-rated couplers (Cat5e coupler on a Cat6a run) or from introducing too many joints in a single run. One Cat6a coupler on a run under 100 meters adds negligible signal degradation.
