Ubiquiti UniFi AI Pro - 4K Varifocal Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and On-Board AI Analytics
The Ubiquiti UniFi AI Pro (UVC-AI-Pro) is an 8MP varifocal camera with a 3x optical zoom lens (4.1-12.3mm), on-board AI processing for face and license plate recognition, and 4K recording at 3840 x 2160 through UniFi Protect. The 1/1.8" sensor and Vision Enhancer provide usable IR night vision to 131 feet, while the quad-core processor handles AI event classification locally without offloading to the NVR.
The AI Pro is the identification-grade camera in the UniFi Protect lineup. Where the G5 Pro delivers wide-angle 4K coverage, the AI Pro adds optical zoom and on-board AI processing for scenarios where you need to read a plate number, identify a face, or classify events at the camera level. The varifocal lens lets you adjust between wide corridor coverage and tight entrance focus without swapping hardware.

What the AI Pro Delivers
- 8MP (4K) at 30 fps: 3840 x 2160 from a 1/1.8" CMOS sensor. The larger sensor captures more light than 1/2.4" or 1/3" alternatives, producing cleaner footage in low light before IR activates.
- 3x optical zoom (4.1-12.3mm): Varifocal lens adjustable through UniFi Protect. Set wide for corridor coverage or zoom tight on an entrance, gate, or lane. Optical zoom preserves full resolution at any focal length.
- On-board AI processing: Quad-core processor runs face detection, license plate recognition, and person/vehicle/animal classification at the camera. Events are tagged and searchable in Protect without consuming NVR CPU.
- 131 ft IR with Vision Enhancer: IR LEDs reach 40 meters in complete darkness. The Vision Enhancer optimizes IR distribution to reduce hotspots and extend usable range across the full field of view.
- IP65 + IK04, PoE/PoE+ powered: Weather-sealed and impact-resistant for indoor or outdoor mounting. PoE (802.3af) or PoE+ (802.3at) delivers power and data over a single cable.
AI Pro vs G5 Pro: Which One Do You Need?
The G5 Pro and AI Pro are both 4K cameras in the UniFi Protect lineup, but they solve different problems. The G5 Pro has a fixed wide-angle lens (24-35mm equivalent) designed for broad area coverage where you need to see everything in frame at once. The AI Pro has a varifocal 3x zoom lens designed for targeted identification where you need to read a plate, recognize a face, or focus on a specific zone from a distance. If you need one camera to cover an entire room or parking area, the G5 Pro. If you need one camera to identify who or what entered a specific point, the AI Pro.
