UniFi NVR - Enterprise Network Video Recorder for Large-Scale Surveillance
The Ubiquiti ENVR is the highest-capacity network video recorder in the UniFi Protect lineup. With 16 hot-swappable drive bays, 10G networking, and support for up to 210 cameras at HD resolution, it is built for organizations that have outgrown smaller NVRs like the UNVR or UNVR Pro. If you are managing surveillance across a campus, a multi-building business, or a government facility, this is the hardware Ubiquiti designed for that scale.
The 16-bay storage architecture supports both 3.5" and 2.5" drives (HDD or SSD), giving you flexibility to balance capacity and speed. With modern high-capacity drives, you can build storage arrays large enough to retain weeks or months of continuous recording across dozens of 4K cameras. Redundant hot-swappable power supplies (550W CRPS, dual AC input) keep recording running even during a power supply failure, which matters when uptime is non-negotiable.
Camera capacity scales with resolution: 210 cameras at HD, 140 at 2K, or 70 at 4K. Most real deployments mix resolutions, so actual capacity falls somewhere in between. The ENVR also runs UniFi Access alongside Protect, so you can manage door access control from the same hardware without needing a separate appliance.
Who This NVR Is For
- IT and security teams at mid-to-large organizations managing 50+ cameras across multiple buildings or sites who need centralized recording with enterprise-grade reliability
- Government and defense contractors who require NDAA-compliant recording equipment with CE, FCC, and IC certification
- Businesses upgrading from a UNVR or UNVR Pro that have hit storage or camera count limits and need 10G networking to handle higher throughput
Good to Know Before You Buy
- Works with UniFi Protect cameras: The ENVR integrates directly with the full Ubiquiti camera lineup, giving you a unified platform for recording, access control, and network management from a single appliance.
- Flexible drive configuration: All 16 bays support 3.5" or 2.5" HDDs or SSDs, so you can match storage capacity and speed to your retention and performance requirements.
- Rack-mount ready: 3U form factor (36.6 lbs, 43 lbs with rails) fits standard 19" four-post racks with 25.6" to 39.4" depth. Slide rails are included.
- 10G networking built in: (2) 10G SFP+ ports and (1) 10 GbE port deliver the throughput needed for high-camera-count and 4K deployments.
Is the UniFi NVR Worth It?
For large-scale UniFi Protect deployments, the ENVR sits at the top of the UniFi Enterprise hardware lineup. The UNVR maxes out at 4 bays and 20 cameras in 4K. The UNVR Pro pushes that to 7 bays. The ENVR more than doubles the Pro's capacity at every level: 16 bays, 70 cameras in 4K, redundant hot-swappable power, and 10G connectivity. If you are running more than 20 cameras or need enterprise uptime guarantees, consolidating onto a single ENVR simplifies management and scales with your deployment.
