2.5 GbE Multi-WAN Gateway with IDS/IPS at 1.5 Gbps in a Silent, Fanless Enclosure
The Ubiquiti UniFi Gateway Max is a compact multi-WAN router with five 2.5 GbE ports, delivering full line-rate routing and up to 1.5 Gbps throughput with IDS/IPS enabled. Fanless all-metal construction means zero noise for office, retail, and closet installations. It manages through the UniFi Network application for centralized firewall, VPN, and traffic analytics across your entire site.
The UXG-Max sits above the Gateway Lite (UXG-Lite) in Ubiquiti's routing lineup, adding multi-WAN failover, 2.5 GbE on every port, and significantly higher IDS/IPS throughput. Unlike the Dream Machine series, the UXG-Max is a standalone gateway that pairs with an external controller, making it the upgrade path for existing UniFi sites that need more routing performance without replacing their controller infrastructure.
Where the UXG-Max Fits
- Multi-gig internet connections where your ISP delivers 1.5-2.5 Gbps and you need a gateway that handles full throughput with security inspection enabled rather than bottlenecking at gigabit
- Dual-WAN failover deployments where business continuity requires automatic switchover between primary and backup internet links using the remappable WAN port
- Noise-sensitive environments where the all-metal fanless chassis delivers enterprise routing performance in open offices, retail spaces, and residential installs without audible fan noise
What the UXG-Max Delivers
- Five 2.5 GbE ports: 1 dedicated WAN, 3 LAN, and 1 configurable port that can serve as a second WAN for failover or load balancing. Every port runs at full 2.5 Gbps.
- 1.5 Gbps with IDS/IPS: Deep packet inspection, intrusion detection, and threat management at 1.5 Gbps throughput. Full security without sacrificing speed.
- Fanless all-metal enclosure: Passively cooled with zero moving parts. Silent operation under sustained load for deployments where noise matters.
- Multi-WAN failover: Automatic WAN switchover when your primary link drops. Configurable for failover or load balancing across dual uplinks.
- USB-C powered: Draws under 10W from a USB-C adapter (included). No bulky power brick or dedicated rack power required.
