8-Door Access Controller with PoE for Readers, Battery Backup, and UL 294 Level I Certification
The Ubiquiti Enterprise Access Hub (EAH-8) is UniFi's 8-door access control hub, consolidating what would normally take four or more single-door UA-Hub units into one rack-sized wall-mount chassis. Wire up to eight doors to a single EAH-8 and manage every reader, lock, request-to-exit, and door position sensor from the UniFi Access app. Eight built-in PoE ports power readers directly without separate power supplies at each door.
The EAH-8 is UL 294 Level I certified across destructive attack, line security, endurance, and standby power. Built-in 32-48V lead-acid battery backup keeps doors locked or unlocked per policy during power failures. As part of the UniFi Enterprise family, it is managed from the same console as every other UniFi Access, Network, Protect, and Talk device.
Where the EAH-8 Fits
- Commercial office buildings and multi-tenant facilities controlling 5-8 doors on a single floor or wing where multiple single-door hubs would mean more cabling, more power drops, and more devices to maintain
- Schools, hospitals, and government facilities that need UL 294 Level I certified access control with battery backup for uninterrupted door security during power events
- Security integrators consolidating off legacy panels onto UniFi Access to eliminate annual software licenses while keeping real enterprise features like battery backup and multi-door control
What the EAH-8 Delivers
- Eight doors, one hub: Eight request-to-exit inputs, eight door position inputs, eight lock terminals (12V or dry), and four auxiliary terminals for chimes, sirens, or door openers. One emergency input for panic or evacuation triggers.
- PoE for readers built in: Eight PoE ports deliver power and data to UniFi readers (G2, G3, Ultra, Intercom) without separate power supplies at each door. 60W total PoE budget, 30W max per port.
- Battery backup: 32-48V DC lead-acid battery input keeps the hub running through an AC outage. Doors maintain their locked/unlocked policy state rather than failing open or stranding occupants.
- UL 294 Level I certified: Certified for destructive attack, line security, endurance, and standby power. Specifiable for commercial and government facilities where consumer-grade gear is not acceptable.
- Managed through UniFi Access: Enrollment, schedules, credentials, audit logs, and real-time event monitoring run through the same UniFi console as the rest of your deployment.
EAH-8 vs UA-Hub: Which Do You Need?
The UA-Hub (single-door) and EAH-8 (eight-door) both connect readers and locks to UniFi Access, but they solve different scale problems. The UA-Hub powers one reader and one lock per unit, mounts behind the door frame, and works for single-door deployments or small offices with 1-4 doors. The EAH-8 consolidates eight doors into one wall-mount enclosure with a shared PoE budget, battery backup, and UL 294 certification. For buildings with 5+ doors per floor, the EAH-8 reduces total device count, simplifies wiring, and adds the battery backup and certification that commercial deployments require.
