Ubiquiti UniFi U6 Mesh - Dual-Band WiFi 6 Access Point for Indoor and Outdoor Deployments
The Ubiquiti UniFi U6 Mesh is a dual-band WiFi 6 access point with 4x4 MIMO on 5 GHz, delivering up to 4.8 Gbps throughput in a compact form factor that mounts on a desk, wall, or pole. IPX5 weather resistance (when mounted LED side up) makes it suitable for covered outdoor locations like patios, breezeways, and warehouses, while the same hardware works as a standard ceiling or wall AP indoors.
The U6 Mesh is the outdoor-capable entry in the UniFi WiFi 6 access point lineup. Unlike the ceiling-mount U6 Pro and U6 LR, the U6 Mesh supports wireless mesh uplink, so it can extend coverage to locations where running Ethernet is impractical. Wire it with PoE for best performance, or deploy it wirelessly as a mesh node and add a wired backhaul later.
Where the U6 Mesh Fits
- Covered outdoor areas and semi-exposed locations like patios, pergolas, loading docks, and breezeways where a standard indoor AP is not rated for moisture but a full outdoor AP is overkill
- Warehouse floors, workshops, and garages where a pole or wall mount puts the AP where coverage is needed and the IPX5 rating handles dust, humidity, and incidental splash
- Mesh extensions to outbuildings and detached spaces where there is no Ethernet run available, using wireless mesh uplink to relay traffic back to a wired AP on the main network
What the U6 Mesh Delivers
- WiFi 6 dual-band (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz): 4x4 MIMO on 5 GHz delivers up to 4.8 Gbps throughput. 2x2 on 2.4 GHz provides fallback coverage for legacy and IoT devices that do not support 5 GHz.
- Wireless mesh or wired uplink: Deploy with a standard PoE Ethernet cable for full-speed backhaul, or configure as a wireless mesh node to extend the network without a cable run. Both modes managed from the same UniFi dashboard.
- IPX5 weather resistance: Rated against low-pressure water jets from any direction when mounted LED side up. Suitable for covered outdoor installs where the AP is exposed to wind-driven rain, humidity, or splashing but not direct downpour.
- Flexible mounting: Desktop, wall, and pole mount options included. The compact form factor fits under eaves, on warehouse columns, inside drop ceilings, or on a desk in a temporary setup.
- PoE powered (802.3af): A single Ethernet cable carries power and data from any 802.3af PoE switch or injector. No wall adapter or dedicated outlet required at the mounting location.
