Is Cisco Firepower the Same as ASA?
They are two different software platforms that run on the same Firepower hardware. Cisco ASA is the long-standing adaptive security appliance firewall, while Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) is the newer, threat-focused image. This FPR1010-ASA-K9 ships with ASA software, so if your team standardizes on ASA, this is the model to choose. The FTD version is sold separately as the FPR1010-NGFW-K9.
