The Ubiquiti NanoBeam M5-16 (NBE-M5-16) is a 5 GHz airMAX wireless bridge with a 16 dBi integrated dish antenna. It functions as a CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) for point-to-point links between buildings, connecting a remote site back to a base station without running cable. The compact all-in-one design combines radio and antenna in a single housing that pole-mounts, wall-mounts, or window-mounts with the included hardware.
The NanoBeam uses Ubiquiti's airMAX TDMA protocol instead of standard WiFi, which eliminates hidden-node collisions and schedules client transmissions in dedicated time slots. This provides consistent throughput and low latency on links where standard WiFi would degrade under load. The tight 16 dBi beamwidth also rejects off-axis interference, making the NanoBeam effective in RF-congested environments where broader-beam antennas pick up noise from adjacent networks.
