60 GHz Point-to-Multipoint Base Station with 5.4 Gbps Aggregate Throughput, 90° Sector Coverage, and 10G SFP+ Backhaul
The Ubiquiti Wave AP Gen2 is a 60 GHz point-to-multipoint base station delivering 5.4 Gbps aggregate throughput (2.7 Gbps symmetrical) across a 90-degree sector with support for up to 31 simultaneous clients. Operating in the 57-71 GHz spectrum with 20 dBi antenna gain, the Wave AP Gen2 serves as the sector access point for WISP and enterprise fixed wireless deployments. Dual backhaul ports (2.5 GbE + 10G SFP+) connect to the wired network infrastructure.
The Wave AP Gen2 is the sector base station in the UISP Wave 60 GHz lineup. It connects to Wave Pro and Wave-LR clients at distances up to 6 km, Wave Nano clients up to 4 km, and Wave Pico clients up to 0.9 km. The 5 GHz backup radio provides fallback connectivity during rain fade or interference events that attenuate the 60 GHz primary link. IPX6-rated outdoor construction handles permanent pole-mounted installations in exposed environments.
Where the Wave AP Gen2 Fits
- WISP sector deployments where the 90-degree sector serves up to 31 subscribers with multi-gigabit 60 GHz links from a single tower-mounted base station
- High-density fixed wireless where the 60 GHz spectrum provides interference-free operation separate from congested 5 GHz bands, and the narrow beam width reduces sector-to-sector interference
- Enterprise campus backhaul where buildings within 6 km line of sight need multi-gigabit wireless connections without spectrum licensing or fiber trenching
What the Wave AP Gen2 Delivers
- 5.4 Gbps aggregate, 2.7 Gbps symmetrical: Full-duplex operation across the 60 GHz band with channel widths up to 2160 MHz. Supports 16QAM and QPSK modulation for optimal throughput at distance.
- 90° sector, 31 clients, 20 dBi: 90-degree azimuth coverage with 20 dBi antenna gain serves up to 31 concurrent Wave clients per sector. Multiple sectors cover a full tower site.
- 2.5 GbE + 10G SFP+ backhaul: Dual wired interfaces connect the base station to fiber or copper backhaul. The 10G SFP+ port matches the aggregate wireless throughput capacity.
- 5 GHz backup radio: Automatic failover to 5 GHz maintains subscriber connectivity during 60 GHz rain fade events or temporary interference.
- IPX6 outdoor rated, 24W PoE: Weatherproof construction for permanent outdoor pole mounting. Powered via included 48V PoE adapter over a single Ethernet cable.
