Long-Range 60 GHz Subscriber Station with 2 Gbps Throughput, 8 km Reach, and 5 GHz Weather-Resistant Backup
The Ubiquiti Wave-LR is a long-range 60 GHz subscriber station delivering up to 2 Gbps throughput (1 Gbps full-duplex) at distances up to 8 km from a Wave AP base station. The high-gain dish antenna and 5 GHz backup radio provide reliable multi-gigabit connectivity for the most distant subscribers in a UISP Wave deployment. Integrated GPS supports timing synchronization and link planning through the UISP network management platform.
The Wave-LR is the longest-range CPE in the Wave subscriber lineup. Where the Wave Nano reaches 5 km and the Wave Pico covers 1.3 km, the Wave-LR extends to 8 km from the base station, serving subscribers at the outer edges of a sector's coverage area. The larger dish antenna provides the gain needed to maintain link quality at these distances, and the 5 GHz backup radio keeps the connection alive during rain fade events that attenuate the 60 GHz primary link.
Where the Wave-LR Fits
- Distant WISP subscribers where the subscriber location is 5-8 km from the Wave AP base station and requires more antenna gain than the Wave Nano can provide
- Weather-resilient long-range links where the 5 GHz backup radio maintains connectivity during rain fade events that would temporarily interrupt a 60 GHz-only link at distance
- High-throughput rural broadband where subscribers need multi-gigabit speeds and the 60 GHz spectrum delivers capacity that congested 5 GHz bands cannot match
What the Wave-LR Delivers
- 2 Gbps throughput, 1 Gbps full-duplex: Multi-gigabit subscriber connectivity over the 60 GHz band at distances up to 8 km from the Wave AP base station.
- 8 km range to Wave AP: The highest-gain antenna in the Wave CPE lineup reaches the farthest distances. 6 km range to Wave AP Micro base stations.
- 5 GHz backup radio: Automatic failover to 5 GHz during rain fade maintains subscriber connectivity in adverse weather conditions.
- Integrated GPS: GPS timing synchronization and position data for link planning via the UISP ISP Design Center.
- Gigabit Ethernet, PoE powered: Single GbE port connects to the subscriber's router or switch. Powered via included Gigabit PoE adapter.
