Why 25G uplinks on a gigabit switch?
The four SFP28 slots run at 25G, well beyond the 10G uplinks on a standard Catalyst 1300 switch. That headroom matters when 24 gigabit ports all push traffic at once: uplinks and stacking connections stay clear of congestion, and the switch can aggregate into a 25G-capable core or grow with the network instead of becoming the bottleneck. The slots still accept 10G SFP+ optics, so you can start at 10G today and move to 25G later.
