Passive 100G Direct Attach Cable for Short Switch-to-Switch Links Without Fiber Optics
The Ubiquiti UACC-DAC-QSFP28-0.5M is a 0.5-meter (1.64 ft) passive direct attach cable with QSFP28 connectors on both ends. It delivers 100 Gbps throughput between two QSFP28 ports or 40 Gbps between QSFP+ ports, connecting adjacent switches, routers, or storage devices in the same rack without the cost and complexity of fiber transceivers and patch cables.
DAC cables are the preferred interconnect for short runs (under 3 meters) where two devices sit in the same rack or adjacent rack units. They cost less than a pair of 100G transceivers plus fiber, draw less power (passive cable needs no laser), and introduce lower latency than optical modules. The 0.5M length is sized for switch-to-switch stacking or connecting devices mounted directly above or below each other.
