5-Meter 10 Gbps SFP+ Active Optical Cable with Multi-Mode Fiber and Ultra-Thin Profile
The Ubiquiti UACC-AOC-SFP10-5M is a 5-meter (16.4 ft) active optical cable with SFP+ transceivers on both ends, delivering 10 Gbps throughput over multi-mode fiber. The ultra-thin, lightweight design takes up less space in cable trays than copper DAC alternatives, and the integrated SFP+ optics eliminate the need for separate transceivers. Built for 10G links between UniFi switches, consoles, and other racked networking equipment.
At 5 meters, this AOC covers same-rack and adjacent-rack connections where a thinner cable profile or electromagnetic interference immunity matters more than the cost savings of a passive DAC cable. The fiber construction is immune to electrical interference from power cables and other copper runs in the rack, making it the preferred choice in environments with dense cabling or high-power equipment nearby. The aqua PVC jacket provides visual identification as a fiber link.
Where the UACC-AOC-SFP10-5M Fits
- Same-rack and adjacent-rack 10G links where the 5-meter length connects switches, consoles, or servers within close proximity and the thin fiber profile keeps cable management clean
- EMI-sensitive environments where fiber optic cabling eliminates electromagnetic interference concerns from nearby power cables, UPS systems, or other high-power equipment in the rack
- Dense rack cabling where the ultra-thin AOC profile reduces cable bulk compared to copper DAC cables, improving airflow and simplifying cable routing through trays and conduits
What the UACC-AOC-SFP10-5M Delivers
- 10 Gbps over 5 meters: Full 10G throughput across the entire 5-meter (16.4 ft) cable length with zero signal degradation.
- SFP+ transceivers on both ends: Pre-terminated with integrated SFP+ optics. Plug directly into any SFP+ port on UniFi switches, consoles, and compatible third-party equipment.
- Multi-mode fiber, ultra-thin: Lightweight multi-mode fiber cable with a significantly thinner profile than copper DAC cables. Easier to route and manage in congested rack environments.
- Aqua PVC jacket: Industry-standard aqua color identifies the cable as multi-mode fiber at a glance. PVC jacket provides durability for permanent indoor installations.
DAC vs AOC: When to Use an Active Optical Cable
DAC (Direct Attach Copper) cables are passive, lower-cost, and work well for short same-rack connections under 5 meters. AOC (Active Optical Cable) uses fiber optics with integrated transceivers to provide a thinner cable profile and immunity to electromagnetic interference. At 5 meters, both DAC and AOC reach the same distance, so the choice comes down to environment: use DAC when cost is the priority and cable density is low, use AOC when thin routing, EMI immunity, or cable management in dense racks matters more.
