7-Inch Touchscreen Entry Terminal with Multi-Factor Unlock, 8 MP Camera, and Two-Way Audio for Secure Building Access
The Ubiquiti UniFi Access Intercom (UA-Intercom) is an outdoor-rated entry terminal with a 7" high-brightness touchscreen, integrated 8 MP camera with LED floodlight, and multiple unlock methods including NFC cards, QR codes, PIN codes, and the UniFi Identity mobile app. It connects via a single PoE Ethernet cable, draws 13W maximum, and operates from -30 to 60°C behind an IP65-rated enclosure of aluminum alloy and UV-stabilized polycarbonate. Managed through the UniFi Access platform (v1.22.17+) alongside door locks, access hubs, and Intercom Viewers.
The UA-Intercom replaces traditional buzzer panels and standalone video intercoms with a unified access terminal that ties into the broader UniFi Access ecosystem. When a visitor presses the directory button, the call routes to an Intercom Viewer inside the building or to the resident's phone via the UniFi Identity app. The resident sees live video from the 8 MP camera, speaks through two-way audio, and can unlock the door remotely without leaving their desk. For buildings that need both multi-tenant directory functionality and card-based access control in a single panel, the UA-Intercom eliminates the need for separate intercom and reader hardware at the door.
Where the UniFi Access Intercom Fits
- Multi-tenant commercial buildings where visitors need a directory to reach tenants and residents need NFC card or mobile app access without a separate reader and intercom panel at the entrance
- Gated residential communities where the intercom calls a homeowner's phone for remote gate unlock with live video verification of who is at the entry
- Office lobbies and co-working spaces where visitors check in via QR code, employees badge through with NFC, and reception monitors entries from an Intercom Viewer at their desk
What the UniFi Access Intercom Delivers
- 7" capacitive touchscreen (1000 nit): Readable in direct sunlight. Directory interface for visitors, PIN entry for residents, and status feedback for NFC taps. Portrait orientation sized for mounting at eye level.
- 8 MP camera with LED floodlight: Live video to Intercom Viewers and the UniFi Identity app. Verifies visitors before granting remote unlock. Floodlight illuminates the entry area at night.
- Multi-factor unlock (NFC, QR, PIN, mobile): NFC supports MIFARE Classic, MIFARE DESFire, and FeliCa credentials. QR codes for temporary visitor passes. PIN codes for backup access. UniFi Identity app for phone-based unlock via BLE.
- IP65 weatherproof, -30 to 60°C operating range: Aluminum alloy and UV-stabilized polycarbonate enclosure sealed against dust and water jets. Operates in extreme cold and heat without supplemental protection.
- PoE powered with single-cable installation: One Cat5e run provides both power (13W max) and Gigabit data. Wall mount included with optional gooseneck pedestal, flush mount, and sunshield kits available.
Can the UniFi Intercom Open a Gate Without Internet?
The UniFi Access Intercom requires a UniFi Access Hub to control door locks and gates. When the hub is connected to the local network, NFC badge access continues to work even if the internet connection drops because credential verification happens locally on the hub. However, remote features like phone-based unlock via the UniFi Identity app and live video calls to off-site residents require an active internet connection. For gate installations where internet reliability is a concern, the NFC and PIN unlock methods provide offline-capable access through the locally connected Access Hub, while QR code and mobile app methods serve as internet-dependent alternatives.
