Compact Managed 8-Port Switch with 52W PoE Budget for Small Deployments
The Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Lite 8 PoE (USW-Lite-8-PoE) is a compact managed Layer 2 switch with 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 4 of which deliver 802.3af/at PoE+ power to UniFi access points, cameras, or any standard PoE device. The remaining 4 ports run at full Gigabit line rate for wired devices that do not need power injection.
Total PoE budget across the 4 powered ports is 52W, which handles two or three UniFi WiFi 6 access points, a handful of cameras, or a mixed load of PoE endpoints in a small office or home setup. The switch ships with a 60W external power adapter and a wall-mount kit, so it installs in an AV cabinet, under a desk, or tucked behind a TV without needing a rack. Managed through the same UniFi Network console as every other device in the deployment.
Where the Switch Lite 8 PoE Fits
- Home offices and small business networks with 2-3 PoE access points plus a handful of wired devices (printers, NAS, desktops) where a full rack switch is overkill
- AV racks and conference rooms needing managed switching for VLAN-separated meeting-room traffic, PoE-powered cameras, or IP phones on a small footprint
- Branch offices in a multi-site UniFi deployment that need a managed edge switch the head office can monitor and configure remotely through the same UniFi console
What the Switch Lite 8 PoE Delivers
- Four PoE+ ports, four Gigabit: 4x 802.3af/at PoE+ (30W per port max) plus 4x non-PoE Gigabit ports. Every port runs at full 1 Gbps line rate, managed from the UniFi console.
- 52W total PoE budget: Enough for 2-3 UniFi WiFi 6 APs at typical draw, or a mix of APs and PoE cameras. The external 60W power brick is included.
- Full Layer 2 feature set: VLAN tagging (802.1Q), IGMP snooping, port mirroring, spanning tree, storm control, and jumbo frames. Not a stripped-down managed switch.
- Managed or standalone: Works plug-and-play for basic switching and PoE. Adopt it into UniFi Network and every Layer 2 feature becomes configurable from the dashboard.
- Wall-mountable, silent, fanless: Wall-mount kit included. No fan, no rack ears, no noise. Fits in AV cabinets, offices, and mounted installations.
Switch Lite 8 PoE vs Switch Ultra: Which One?
Both are compact 8-port managed switches with PoE, but they target different use cases. The Switch Lite 8 PoE has 4 PoE+ ports with a 52W budget and powers itself from an external adapter. The Switch Ultra has 7 PoE+ ports plus 1 PoE++ port with a 42W budget, and it can power itself from an upstream PoE++ source instead of a wall adapter. If you need more PoE ports and want to daisy-chain power without running AC to the switch location, the Ultra. If you need a higher total PoE budget and don't mind the power adapter, the Lite 8 PoE.
