Connect Existing Analog Phones to the UniFi Talk VoIP Platform Without Replacing Hardware
The Ubiquiti UniFi Talk Telephone Adapter (UA-TA) is a compact VoIP ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) that bridges legacy analog phones into the UniFi Talk platform. It converts analog telephone signals to VoIP, allowing businesses to keep their existing handsets while migrating to a cloud-managed UniFi Talk phone system. A single RJ11 port connects one analog phone, and the device powers itself from PoE for a clean single-cable installation.
The UA-TA exists for organizations transitioning to UniFi Talk that have functioning analog handsets they want to retain. Rather than replacing every phone on day one, the adapter lets each analog device participate in the UniFi Talk system immediately. Calls route through UniFi Talk, appear in the dashboard, and follow the same call rules and voicemail settings as native UniFi Talk phones. Managed entirely through the UniFi Talk application alongside all other UniFi Talk devices.
Where the UA-TA Fits
- Businesses migrating to UniFi Talk that have working analog phones they want to keep using during or after the transition rather than purchasing all-new VoIP handsets on day one
- Locations with specialty analog devices (door phones, elevator phones, overhead paging systems) that need to integrate into the UniFi Talk call routing without replacing the endpoint hardware
- Cost-conscious VoIP deployments where existing analog phones work fine and the budget is better spent on network infrastructure than on replacing functional handsets
What the UA-TA Delivers
- Analog-to-VoIP conversion: Connects one analog phone via RJ11 and registers it as a UniFi Talk endpoint. Calls, voicemail, and routing rules work identically to native VoIP phones.
- PoE powered: Single Ethernet cable provides both network connectivity and power. No wall adapter, no power brick, no second cable to the installation point.
- UniFi Talk managed: Appears in the UniFi Talk dashboard alongside all other phones. Assign extensions, configure call groups, set voicemail, and manage from one interface.
- Compact plug-and-play form factor: Small enough to sit behind or beneath the analog phone. No configuration beyond adoption into the UniFi Talk system.
