WiFi 7 Ceiling AP with 4.3 Gbps Throughput and Long-Range Coverage for Large Spaces

The Ubiquiti UniFi U7-LR is a WiFi 7 (802.11be) long-range access point with 5 spatial streams, a 2.5 GbE uplink, and coverage up to 1,750 sq ft. The 5 GHz radio runs 3x3 MU-MIMO at up to 4.3 Gbps and the 2.4 GHz radio runs 2x2 at up to 688 Mbps, giving the AP the throughput and range to cover large open areas, warehouses, and multi-room offices from a single ceiling mount.

The U7-LR is the long-range model in the UniFi WiFi 7 lineup. It extends coverage beyond what the U7 Pro and U7 Lite reach, targeting spaces where fewer APs need to cover more area. The 2.5 GbE uplink prevents the wired backhaul from bottlenecking WiFi 7 throughput, and the AP supports 300+ concurrent clients. PoE powered, ceiling or wall mounted, managed through the same UniFi dashboard as every other device in the deployment.

Where the U7-LR Fits

  • Large offices, lobbies, and open floor plans where one AP needs to blanket 1,750 sq ft without dropping signal at the edges of the coverage area
  • Warehouses, retail floors, and event spaces with high ceilings and long sightlines where a standard-range AP leaves dead zones at the perimeter
  • Education campuses and hospitality venues supporting 100+ concurrent clients per AP with WiFi 7 throughput, VLAN segmentation, and captive portal for guest access

What the U7-LR Delivers

  • WiFi 7 (802.11be), 5 spatial streams: 3x3 on 5 GHz (up to 4.3 Gbps) and 2x2 on 2.4 GHz (up to 688 Mbps). The latest wireless standard with support for 4K-QAM, 320 MHz channels, and multi-link operation on compatible clients.
  • Long-range coverage up to 1,750 sq ft: Designed for large single-AP zones. Covers more area per AP than the U7 Pro or U7 Lite, reducing the total number of APs needed in a deployment.
  • 2.5 GbE PoE uplink: A single Ethernet cable delivers power and 2.5 Gbps data. No bottleneck between the WiFi 7 radios and the wired network.
  • 300+ client capacity: Enterprise-grade client handling with private pre-shared keys, dynamic VLAN assignment, band steering, and seamless roaming across multiple APs.
  • Ceiling or wall mount: Mounting hardware included. PoE powered (injector not included). Managed through UniFi Network 9.1.120 or later.

Is WiFi 7 Worth Upgrading To?

WiFi 7 delivers higher peak throughput and lower latency than WiFi 6/6E, but the real-world benefit depends on the client mix. If the deployment serves mostly WiFi 6 laptops and phones today, the U7-LR still outperforms older APs on those connections through better MU-MIMO handling and higher efficiency. As WiFi 7 clients enter the network over the next 1-2 years, the AP is already there to serve them at full speed. For new deployments, WiFi 7 is the forward-looking choice. For existing WiFi 5 or WiFi 6 networks with coverage or capacity issues, the U7-LR solves both while future-proofing the infrastructure.
