Tri-Band WiFi 7 Access Point with 8 Spatial Streams, Spectral Scanning, and 500+ Client Capacity
The Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Pro Max is a tri-band WiFi 7 access point with 8 spatial streams across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands, delivering combined data rates up to 15 Gbps for environments with hundreds of concurrent devices. It connects via a 2.5 GbE PoE+ uplink, covers up to 160 m² (1,750 ft²), and includes a dedicated spectral scanning radio that identifies interference in real time. Ceiling or wall mounted with the included Pro Mount hardware, managed through UniFi Network v8.2.93 or later.
The U7 Pro Max is the top-tier access point in the UniFi WiFi 7 lineup. Below it, the U7 Pro offers WiFi 7 on 5 GHz and 6 GHz but with 4 spatial streams instead of 8 and no dedicated spectral scanning radio. Above it, the Enterprise-tier U7 Enterprise targets campus-scale deployments with 10 GbE uplinks. The Pro Max occupies the sweet spot for high-density commercial spaces where maximum wireless throughput matters but 10 GbE switching infrastructure is not yet deployed.
Where the U7 Pro Max Fits
- High-density offices and coworking spaces where 100+ concurrent devices per AP demand the 8-stream capacity and band steering across three bands to prevent congestion
- Hotels, conference centers, and event venues where the 500+ client capacity handles peak attendance without degrading per-device throughput
- Retrofit deployments upgrading from WiFi 5/6 where the single 2.5 GbE uplink port leverages existing Cat5e/Cat6 cabling without requiring 10 GbE switch infrastructure
What the U7 Pro Max Delivers
- Tri-band WiFi 7 (2.4/5/6 GHz): Up to 8.6 Gbps on 5 GHz (BW240), 5.7 Gbps on 6 GHz (BW320), and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. All three bands serve clients simultaneously to spread load.
- 8 spatial streams with MU-MIMO: 4x4 on 5 GHz and 2x2 on both 6 GHz and 2.4 GHz. Maximum throughput to multi-antenna clients and concurrent service to single-stream devices.
- Dedicated spectral scanning radio: Continuously monitors the RF environment for interference sources without interrupting client service. Identifies competing networks, non-WiFi interference, and radar events in real time.
- 2.5 GbE PoE+ uplink (802.3at): Single cable for data and power. Supports up to 25W draw. No separate power adapter required when connected to a PoE+ switch or injector.
- 500+ concurrent client capacity: Designed for high-density deployments where standard access points degrade under load. Band steering, BSS transition management, and fast roaming keep clients on optimal bands.
What Is the Difference Between U7 Pro and U7 Pro Max?
The U7 Pro has 6 spatial streams (4x4 on 5 GHz, 2x2 on 6 GHz) while the U7 Pro Max has 8 streams (4x4 on 5 GHz, 2x2 on both 6 GHz and 2.4 GHz). The Pro Max adds a dedicated spectral scanning radio for real-time interference detection that the U7 Pro lacks. Both share the same 2.5 GbE PoE+ uplink and ceiling-mount form factor. In practice, the Pro Max handles higher client counts more gracefully because the additional streams and spectral awareness let it dynamically adjust to congestion. If you are deploying in an environment with fewer than 50 concurrent devices and minimal interference, the U7 Pro delivers excellent performance at a lower price point. For 100+ devices or RF-dense environments with many competing networks, the Pro Max's extra capacity and scanning make the price difference worthwhile.
